Frequently Asked Questions
How does this felt excluder compare to the original 'furflex' material?
While the original TR2-3A used 'furflex' type sealing, our black felt replacement offers superior weatherproofing with modern materials while maintaining period-correct aesthetics. It's specifically engineered for classic Triumph applications.
Will this affect the originality of my TR2-3A?
As custodians of classic Triumphs ourselves, we understand the importance of authenticity. This felt excluder provides the perfect balance - maintaining the original look while offering enhanced protection against modern environmental conditions.
Why do I need exactly 2 metres for installation?
The 2-metre requirement isn't arbitrary - it's precisely calculated to ensure proper sealing around the entire hard top perimeter. This provides optimal coverage for water, draught and noise protection while avoiding waste.
Can I install this myself?
Yes! The installation is relatively straightforward for someone familiar with classic car maintenance. However, if you need guidance, our technical team is always ready to provide detailed fitment advice.
How effective is this at reducing wind noise?
You'll notice a significant reduction in wind noise compared to worn original seals. The dense felt construction creates an effective acoustic barrier while driving - particularly noticeable at higher speeds.
What's the expected lifespan of the felt excluder?
With proper installation and maintenance, the felt excluder should provide years of reliable service. Its modern construction offers better resistance to compression set and environmental degradation compared to original materials.
Why is it sold by the metre?
We understand that restoration needs vary. Selling by the metre allows you to purchase exactly what you need, whether you're replacing a small section or doing a complete hard top renewal. This approach helps reduce waste and unnecessary expense.
I'm uncertain about my exact requirements. Can you help?
Absolutely! Our technical team has extensive experience with TR2-3A restorations. We can help you assess your specific needs and ensure you order the correct length for your project.
What if I encounter fitment issues?
Our dedicated technical support team has over four decades of classic car expertise. We can provide guidance on installation, trimming tips and solutions to any fitment challenges you might encounter.
Are there any special installation tools required?
While basic hand tools are sufficient, we can advise on specific techniques and tools that make installation easier based on your particular situation and experience level.
