Premium gasket, produced using high temperature silicone and designed to be re-usable.

This gasket fits the popular aftermarket Aluminium Alloy valve cover available for the BMC "B" series engines (1489cc, 1588cc, 1622cc, 1789cc). This includes the MGA, MGB, and other cars fitted with this engine.

This gasket has been patterned directly from an Alloy valve cover. The radius of the corners of this gasket will match the alloy cover perfectly, unlike a stock gasket. The cross-section of this gasket is rectangular to suit the sealing surface of the alloy valve cover.

Will require the old bush to be removed with tool 18G226. The replacement bush must be pressed in with the butt joint to the top of the rocker bore and the oil groove in the bush at the bottom of the rocker bore.

It will be necessary to drill the oil holes in the bush to coincide with the oilways in the rocker. The oil hole to the adjuster end can be drilled before the bush is fitted, extra care being taken to keep the holes of the bush and the rocker in line during the pressing in operation.

If the holes are drilled after fitting the following procedure must be adopted. Remove the adjuster screw and use a .093 in.(2.36mm) drill to drill out the end plug and continue the oilway through the bush. Replug the end after this operation with a rivet (Part No. 5C2436) and weld the plug into position. The oil hole in the top of the rocker barrel must be continued through the bush with a no. 47 drill .0785 in. (1.98mm).

Finally burnish-ream the bush to size .625 to .626 in. (15.8 to 15.9mm).

All cars can benefit from a replacement tuftrided rocker shaft, particularly tuned cars that use higher revs.

They are stronger, so will resist wear and tear and prove more reliable. Tuftrided rocker shafts must be thoroughly cleaned of the salts used during the hardening process and, as with all rocker shafts check the end plugs are in place before fitting.

Nice Bling and fast shipping

Did this item work well with your project? What vehicle type are you using this for?

I bought this for my ‘70 MGB. The fit worked well. I bought the longer mounting hardware (the kind with the threaded stud so to mount my heater return pipe) to use with the cover. It’s is a thick casting and seems to be well made, the vented cap is nice but if you have the charcoal canister in place; you may want to add new plumbing for that. The overall finish in my option is about a 7.5-8 out of 10. It could have been a bit better finished closer to the mounting holes and fins. The one thing about this valve cover is that the surface of the gasket area is completely flat, it does not have a ridge to hold the gasket. This means that you will have to use something like RTV(red) to hold the gasket to the valve cover first and let it set before installing it on the head(hence the 4 star).
