Manual and Automatic Options
Most MGF and MG TF models use the PG1 five-speed manual, but the Steptronic automatic gearbox was available on selected variants. For manual boxes, worn selector mechanisms cause vague gear selection, and tired differential bearings create a distinctive whine under load.
