Waterless Coolant

The case for waterless coolants for cars rests on one principle. Remove the water, and you remove the problems water causes. Traditional antifreeze and water mixtures have a boiling point uncomfortably close to the operating temperature of a classic car engine. Localised hotspots boil the coolant, generating steam that raises system pressure, reduces cooling efficiency and accelerates wear. With a boiling point above 180 degrees C, waterless engine coolant stays liquid under all normal driving conditions. No boiling means no pressure spikes, no cavitation erosion and no corrosion from dissolved oxygen.

We stock the full Hawk waterless coolant range, previously sold under the Evans name. Both the formulation and technology are identical. Only the branding has changed. Four variants cover every application. Classic Cool 180 suits classic cast iron and aluminium engines typical of Triumph, MG and Land Rover. Vintage Cool 180 covers pre-war and early post-war engines. Power Cool 180 is formulated for alloy and performance-tuned engines, and Auto Cool 180 covers modern cars from around 1993 onward. None is suitable for thermo-syphon cooling systems, meaning engines without a water pump.

Converting from water-based coolant requires a full flush first. The manufacturer's specification puts service life at more than 20 years. Any water left behind dilutes and compromises the product. Once the system is converted, the coolant does not need to be replaced at regular service intervals. Hawk specifies a service life of more than 20 years. Browse our full range of waterless coolant for cars in our waterless coolant section and Evans waterless coolant listings, including Classic Cool 180 for classic engines. For antifreeze and the full coolant range, our oils and fluids section covers every application.
