Triumph Dolomite and Sprint Water Pump and Thermostat
Water Pump Identification

If unsure as to the type of water pump fitted to your vehicle, the pump cover will have to be removed to check the number of vanes on the impellor (note: water pumps & covers cannot be interchanged between 6 & 12 vane types, a 12 vane pump must be fitted with a 12 vane cover).

A water pump extraction tool (part No RB7009 or RB7009PRO), is usually required to extract the pump from the cylinder block (or improvise!). If the pump is difficult to remove, it may leave the brass cage in the cylinder block, this may be ‘prised’ out - carefully. It is also worth checking the condition of the pump spindle bush (part No 145022), which is also located in the cylinder block. And finally, don’t forget to check your hoses, clips and to replace the anti-freeze.
