The head rest is held up in place by a friction roller system that is secured in a welded section at the top of the seat back frame. Two types of friction roller system were used, they are not inerchangeable as they fit different sized welded brackets on the seats.

This was used to replace the damaged seat diaphragms for a TR8. It fit well and is nice and tight.

Worked fine. I would note I removed an original and the placement was reversed. On the original I removed the smooth side of the diaphragm was against the seat bottom.

You need a "T" handle exhaust spring puller to install these.

These seat diaphragms fitted my TR7 Spider seats okay. They're not identical to the OEM ones they replaced but they will work okay. The diaphragms are, of course, much stiffer than the old ones so need a good deal of effort to install. It definitely helps if the diaphragms are warmed through but it still takes a strong pull to stretch the hooks into the frame. I found that using an exhaust spring puller with a "T" handle worked well. This tool is used to install the springs used on two stroke motorcycle, sand buggies and snow mobiles. A similar tool is used to install the return springs on motorcycle kick stands.
