Triumph Stag Gearbox and Gearbox/Overdrive Units
REPLACEMENT GEARBOXES
The specification of our replacement reconditioned gearboxes may vary slightly from your original unit, due in part to changes introduced by the factory. This does not effect interchangeability.

IMPORTANT
EXCHANGE UNITS
All our gearboxes/overdrive units are supplied on a strict 'LIKE for LIKE' Exchange basis (IE non-overdrive gearbox for non overdrive gearbox).

Your old exchange unit(s) MUST be in an undamaged and serviceable (NOT dismantled) condition, and all fluids/oils must be drained BEFORE being returned to us for refund of exchange surcharge.
We reserve the right to retain all or part of the exchange surcharge if the above conditions are not met.

HOW TO IDENTIFY YOUR GEARBOX
Manual/Overdrive Gearbox
(1970 to 1973 - to LD21230) 'A' type overdrive - Overdrive unit has bolt on solenoid & large brass sump plug.

(1973 onwards - from LD21231) 'J' type overdrive - Overdrive unit has screw in solenoid and finned sump held on with 6 setscrews.

Automatic Gearbox
(1970 to 1976 - to LD41993) Type 35 Borg-Warner gearbox - Output drive/propshaft is splined.

(1976 onwards - from LD41994) Type 65 Borg-Warner gearbox - Output drive/propshaft is flanged.

Please ensure you are ordering the correct part and that you old unit is complete assembled and serviceable.

TRANSMISSION OIL CAPACITIES

Manual Gearbox Only
Gearbox only; 2.25 pints (1.28 litres)
Use EP80W-90 gear oil - Part no. XPGO41L (1 litre)

Manual Gearbox & Overdrive
Gearbox & 'A' Type overdrive; 3.75 pints (2.14 litres)
Gearbox & 'J' Type overdrive; 2.66 pints (1.51 litres)
Use EP80W-90 Gear oil - Part no. XPGO41L (1 litre)

Automatic Gearbox
Type 35 & Type 65 Gearboxes; 14.25 pints (8.09 litres)
Use ATF (Automatic Transmission Fluid) - Part no. GGL505 (5 litres)
