DOT 4 brake fluid is a premium-quality fluid designed for use in hydraulic brake and clutch systems on cars, commercial vehicles, and motorcycles where a glycol-based DOT 3 or DOT 4 fluid is specified. Offering a higher boiling point than DOT 3, it is particularly suited to high-performance vehicles where braking systems regularly reach moderate temperatures.
- Typical dry boiling point: 270 °C (518 °F)
- Typical wet boiling point: 170 °C (338 °F)
For optimum safety and performance, DOT 4 should be considered the minimum specification requirement.
