Model Range Overview
The CityRover 5 door hatchback was introduced in November 2003. It is a front engined, front wheel drive city car, powered by a 1.4 litre (1405cc), 4 cylinder petrol engine producing 85PS, transmission is via a manual 5-speed gearbox.
The model range includes Solo, Sprite, Select and Style variants. Available options (if not standard fitment on the model variant) include ABS, Power Steering, Passenger Airbag, Metallic or Pearlescent Paint, Full Leather Trim and Door Inserts.

201 = 475 SI MPFI euro – 111 petrol engine, Solo version with heating, demisting and airbag
221 = 475 SI MPFI euro – 111 petrol engine, Sprite version with HVAC and airbag
241 = 475 SI MPFI euro – 111 petrol engine, Select version with heating, demisting and airbag
261 = 475 SI MPFI euro – 111 petrol engine, Style version with HVAC and airbag
The following logic is used for this portion of the number, the 7th character will be:
2 = Petrol
The 8th and 9th will be used as follows:
01 to 20 = Solo
21 to 40 = Sprite
41 to 60 = Select
61 onwards = Style

For RHD vehicles production year is 1st Jan to 31st Dec
For LHD vehicles production year is 1st April to 31st March

Engine Identification Number Location
Petrol Engines: The number is stamped onto the cylinder block, below the intake manifold.
Engine Identification Codes
The engine number comprises a series of letters and numbers presenting in code the engine model, variations, the month, year, location of production and the engine serial number.
Transmission Identification Number Location
The trasmission identification number for 1405cc manual transmissions is printed on a label attached to the side of the gearbox unit.

Transmission Identification Number Codes
The trasmission number comprises of a series of letters and numbers presenting in code the number of gearbox speeds, gearbox ration type, final drive ratio, and Speedo ratio. The transmission serial number is a suffix to the transmission number shown.
Body Identification Number Codes
The body shell code comprises of a series of letters and numbers presenting in code the model, year of production, location and a cumulative serial number.
Body Colour Identification Codes
Theese codes and colour names should always be used when ordering replacement parts. The codes and colour names shown are related to those in the vehicle colour charts and the Rover Paint Refinishing Manual.
