Triumph Herald Clutch
The Triumph Herald clutch system evolved throughout production, with early 948 models featuring 6 1/4-inch coil spring clutches before transitioning to diaphragm-type clutches from chassis GA1985E onwards across 1200, 12/50, and 13/60 variants.
Clutch components include covers, plates and release bearings specifically matched to model and chassis number specifications. The hydraulic system operates through master and slave cylinders, sharing specifications with Herald brake hydraulics for simplified servicing procedures. Coil spring clutches require different release bearings from diaphragm types, necessitating careful identification during replacement.
Complete clutch kits simplify replacement by including matched pressure plates, driven plates and bearings engineered for specific Herald applications. The 10-spline input shaft remained consistent across models, connecting to the gearbox and ensuring proper spigot bush alignment for smooth engine-to-transmission power transfer. Regular hydraulic fluid changes prevent internal corrosion and maintain pedal feel across all Herald variants.
Rimmer Bros stocks original specification and upgrade components supporting Herald clutch systems from the earliest 948 production through the final 13/60 models.
