This later type main shaft can only be used in conjunction with the later type reverse idler gear.
Unfortunately there is no documented change point between ‘early’ and ‘late’, thus it is recommended on all cars that if the main shaft is renewed then the reverse idler gear should be replaced with the later type, part no. TUB101760.
