Preserving Our Classic Car Heritage and a Commitment to Keeping Us
Motoring for Years to Come

By Chris Wrigley, Commercial Manager for Rimmer Bros

Dear Fellow Enthusiasts,

At Rimmer Bros, we are not just in the business of selling car parts; we’re part of a wider community of enthusiasts who share the same interest (some have suggested to me that it’s an obsession) with those iconic vehicles that form such an integral part of our motoring heritage, the classic car. We understand the unique connection you have with your cherished classics as we feel the same!

Our role in preserving this part of British motoring heritage is beyond being a one stop shop for parts, it’s a responsibility too. As the proud owners of these fantastic vehicles ourselves, many of which are now some 60 years old, we face a common challenge: the inevitability of critical parts becoming obsolete due to tooling wear or indeed the withdrawal of support from the original manufacturers for commercial reasons. Original manufacturers often work in minimum order quantities of ten thousand which makes many classic car components a no starter for them.

At this point, the onus of responsibility passes to the specialists who can either let the part fall into obsolescence or consider the viability of manufacturing it again from scratch. At Rimmer Bros, we weigh up the criticality of these parts to the continued longevity of the vehicles they fit. If it’s a part that will potentially keep vehicles off the road then we shortlist these items for remanufacture. We aim to keep as many parts alive as humanly possible and invest in new tooling whenever the investment can be justified.

Our commitment to keeping these iconic vehicles on the road for many more years and passing them on to the next generation of enthusiasts is reflected in our vast range and stock availability. We understand that each part plays a crucial role in maintaining the functionality and sometimes the authenticity of your car.

We cannot of course make everything, so a careful selection process takes place to ensure that we concentrate efforts on only the most critical of parts. Over the last 42 years, we have invested significantly in the remanufacture of obsolete components. This involves not only reproducing parts from scratch but doing so in niche volumes with reference to original specifications, bringing them to market at a price that still offers fantastic value for money. It’s often a tall order and takes many years to return anything on investment. We take pride in presenting you with a glimpse of our recent endeavours – a selection of parts that have been remanufactured to a perceived demand with the aid of new tooling.

These parts have been made with considerable attention and are exact fit as original, they stand as a testament to our commitment to preserving the vehicles they fit. This is just a snippet of a long legacy of remanufacturing efforts. The team at Rimmer Bros is always eager to take on the challenge of reintroducing critical components that may otherwise have faded away, ensuring that these timeless vehicles continue to be a welcomed sight on our roads, evoking the spirit they possessed when they first graced the tarmac.

The remanufacture of parts is a collaborative effort and your input and support for the finished goods is critical. We therefore invite you, our valued enthusiasts, to be a part of this mission. If there's a critical part you believe deserves a second lease of life, a component without which your car will struggle to see the road again, then please let us know. Your insights and suggestions are invaluable to us and we will collate them to assess their viability for remanufacture.

As 2024 gets started, Rimmer Bros will continue to invest in the future of our great motoring heritage so that generations to come will discover and enjoy these fantastic cars.

Happy new year!
