Newly tooled, pressed, trimmed and painted in this country, they are perfect copies of the originals, but formed in heavier gauge steel for increased longevity.

The brand new tooling was created by scanning original items and then optimising the results by computer. However, whereas the original products were made from 20SWG (0.914mm thick) steel, BMH has opted for c.18SWG (1.2mm thick) stock that will not only outlast the original panels, but prove considerably more durable than competitor items that can be as much as 0.4mm thinner.

The paint finish of the BMH products is also of the highest calibre, being the same e-coat primer employed by the vast majority of today’s original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) – another level of quality missing from competitor products.

Confusion often arises over identification of the Inner Sills (907912/564807). The Inner Sill is positioned INSIDE the car, between the floor panel (904005/6) and the UPPER part of the Outer Sill (850281/850282). The section that often rusts on the UNDERSIDE of the car is in fact part of the floor pan. Unless you anticipate replacing the whole floor, the rusted section can often be repaired by using standard sheet steel cut to size.

These little tinkers have caused many heated discussions over the years. The long thin tag used on the inner front wings and wheel arches was part number 603559. Fact: It was ‘T’ shaped. Fact: The item was redesigned 13th January 1978 and was then no longer shaped.

Did this item work well with your project? What vehicle type are you using this for?

This part was exactly what I needed. I'm using it on a 1973 triumph tr6.

Not exactly as original

I was rather disappointed with this outer sill. The piece is very close dimensionally and quite serviceable, but not 100% as the original. The problem is, the areas where the A & B pillars attach are not "stepped" as in the original TR4A piece, but flat. I will have to do a bit of modification to get it to look correct. Also, the folds of the stamping do not appear to be as "sharp" as the original.
