Triumph TR7 16v Inlet Manifold and Fittings
16V Sprint Inlet Manifold Conversion
The inlet manifold on the 16V Sprint engine is different to the TR7, so if you carry out the conversion without using one of our TR7 16V Sprint Conversion Kits, it will be necessary to fit a Sprint inlet manifold complete with carbs, or, suit the Sprint manifold. This is a fairly straightforward procedure as the standard TR7 carbs will fit the Sprint manifold, but, because they sit further apart you will have to modify the linkage to suit. Apart from purchasing a complete 16V conversion kit, the easiest option is to fit one of our TR7 Car/Sprint Manifold sets, which come pre-mounted to a Sprint manifold, with the correct linkage. For fully reconditioned carburetors and overhaul/service items for TR7 carb’s, please refer to TR7 FUEL SYSTEM. If you require overhaul components for original Sprint carbs, we stock a full range, so please phone with full details or refer to our Dolomite Section.
Air Cleaners/Filters
The original TR7 air cleaner cannot be re-used in the conversion as the carburetors are spaced further apart. You can of course fit an original Dolomite Sprint air cleaner, but, to optimise the conversion we recommend you fit a pair of K&N air filters to improve engine breathing whilst enhancing the appearance of the engine bay.
