Triumph engines equipped with an Aluminium cylinder head (Stag, TR7, Dolomite 1850/Sprint) often exhibit high levels of corrosion between the securing steel studs and the cylinder head. This makes them very difficult to remove after a long period of time and can lead to costly cylinder head repairs. 
The Nickel plating on these studs will eliminate the cathodic/ galvanic reaction between the stud and the Aluminium cylinder head. The low reactivity between Aluminium oxide and Nickel drastically reduces the likelihood that corrosion will occur again, making future disassembly as straight forward as the workshop manual suggests.
