As the Covid-19 challenges continue (due to volumes experienced & the operational changes we have had to make to ensure we maintain the safety of our staff), we are currently despatching UK Standard orders within 2-3 days. Standard Export 5-6 days.
Due to carrier capacity issues, priority orders are not guaranteed.

Priority orders have about an 80% chance of arriving within the usual timescales.
Returns will take longer to process due to extended transit times and a delayed processing time for hygiene reasons.

Carriers are experiencing a massive increase in volumes (some more than their capacity) and delays will be inevitable. All international Airmail has been affected by the lack of international flights.   This has lead to increased surcharge costs and delays. A significant amount of the worlds Airmail (small packets)  is currently travelling by sea container. For most countries outside the EU we have removed Airmail as a shipping option to avoid delays + disappointment.
There is currently a slight increase in flights, so mail is starting to move by plane, quicker, however in-country backlogs are causing long delivery delays.
i.e  Mail to Australia is only being accepted via Sydney and Melbourne causing delays up to 7 weeks. 
If we re-instate the Airmail option to these countries, we will have to add the hefty surcharges currently being made, this would then equate to the same cost as a carrier service. We will therefore continue to only offer a carrier service to these destinations for the short-term future.

After careful consideration, our Shop and Sales Counter area remains closed to walk-in customers. Delivery Delays
Due to unprecedented levels of business, we are picking, packing and despatching orders as fast as we can, whilst maintaining a Covid-19 safe working practice for our staff. This has unfortunately lead to a delay of several days in orders being sent out in some cases. Please bear with us while we catch up. To compound this, our suppliers are re-opening and getting back up to speed, which is great news. However, this has presented some challenges for our Goods Inwards team, with many large deliveries all arriving at once. We are prioritising backorder items and getting them onto stock as fast as we can, but inevitably there are some delays in locating all the stock, which in turn leads to delays in orders being despatched.
Additionally, our Couriers are all working flat out to cope with the huge surge in the general demand for mail order and delivery delays should also be anticipated from them, for the foreseeable future.

This is to maintain the safety of both our customers and employees - we are looking at a plan to reopen the counter once we have the necessary precautions in place but the safety of everyone is our prime concern.

Now that the country is slowly coming out of lockdown and businesses are reopening it is putting a massive strain on Courier companies and the Royal Mail.

This morning we have had notifications from UPS that they are running 2 to 5 days behind ‘as it is absolutely manic’ and Royal Mail have issued the following message:

However, despite our best endeavors, it’s likely some areas of the country will experience some level of disruption due to Coronavirus-related absences at local mail centres or delivery offices. We’re sorry about this. Every item of mail is important to us, so we’re working hard to keep any delays to a minimum. Thank you for your patience and understanding in these unprecedented times.

Rimmer Bros continue to, wherever possible pick, pack and send any orders out within 48 hours, unfortunately we cannot control the delivery companies so please bear with them as they are really up against it!

Many of our suppliers are now back after closing for Covid-19, some are still operating with reduced (skeleton) staffing but they are working through orders systematically. We are receiving lots of back orders now and are working furiously to get them out to you as soon as possible.

Most recently, the demands placed on all aspects of our business and the reorganisation that we have had to implement to maintain the level of our service - in particular the volume of telephone calls, has resulted in the decision to suspend our second, US based call centre from 1 May 2020.

This means that calls will not be answered outside of UK Office hours - however you will be able to leave a message and if you leave your number and the best time to call, we will call you back.

Delivery Update.
Adjustments to our warehouse working has caused some delays in processing orders, however we are working hard to get the parts you need to you, as soon as we can. Also, our UK and global carriers are experiencing some disruption to their networks meaning that we cannot currently guarantee that all priority orders will be despatched and delivered within the expected timescale(s).

We will however, still prioritise these orders where possible. We’re working closely with our carrier partners, UPS, DHL, DPD and Royal Mail to minimise any delays.

These priority services include:
  • All UK Pre-12 and UK Next Day services
  • UK Weekend services
  • International Air Express
  • Royal Mail Special Delivery services.

Following the Easter break (much deserved for our hard-working staff) we are once again open for business for mail order and the distribution of car parts, the backlog of orders will be cleared as quickly as possible - but safely!

The health and wellbeing of all our customers and staff are of paramount importance and in-line with earlier government advice and the instructions of the prime minister, all but the most essential staff are now working from home.

The staff who remain in our warehouse and offices are following strict government guidelines on social distancing, and all working surfaces within the buildings and offices are sanitized regularly throughout the day.

Our shop and Sales Counter is closed to walk-ins. However pre-paid customer collections (with at least one hour’s notice) can still be made without entering our building - please call ahead (01522 568000) before setting out and for further details of how to collect

Most of our suppliers are still operational, but many at reduced capacities, so some delays in supply are inevitable. However, we continue to hold excellent stocks to maintain supply.

Rimmer Bros continues to remain open for mail order and the distribution of car parts for everyone including the country’s transport and production needs.

Our shop and sales counter is closed to walk-ins. However, pre-paid customer collections (with at least one hour’s notice) can still be made without entering our building - please call ahead (01522 568000) before setting out and for further details of how to collect.

The majority of our office based staff are all working from home, so any sales enquiries or other queries will be dealt with as normal.

Our warehouse staff continue to observe a very strict hygiene regime and social distancing, this means that we cannot get parcels out as quickly as we would like but the disruption is still minimal as our pickers & packers are doing an excellent job under the strict rules we have in place to keep everyone safe.

Our website continues to function as normal. Our stocks are excellent but goods may take longer to arrive because our carriers are under extreme pressure, but again delays are minimal.

The Prime Minister Boris Johnson addressed the nation last night.
Essentially, he ‘locked down’ the country and stated that people will only be able to leave their house for one of four reasons:
  1. Shopping for necessities
  2. Once a day for exercise
  3. Medical need or providing care
  4. Travelling to or from work (if you can't work from home)
All non-essential shops are closing, excluded are food shops, pharmacies, corner shops, hardware stores, petrol stations, pet shops, post offices, banks, newsagents and shops inside hospitals.

We would like to reassure our customers that Rimmer Bros will remain open for mail order and the distribution of car parts for everyone including the country’s transport and production needs. Our shop and sales counter will close to walk-ins.
