Brexit & COVID-19 Update

1st January 2021

Brexit? No problem!

The transition period has come to an end and the UK has officially left the EU. We want to assure you that it will be business as usual here at Rimmer Bros and our ability to ship orders directly to you will not be affected. We have been exporting car parts to almost every country worldwide for nearly 40 years and will continue to do so.

The terms of trade between the UK and EU changed on January 1st, 2021. We are now providing a fast and cost-efficient DAP (Delivered at Place) service.

What do the changes mean for you?
  • We no longer charge UK VAT (Tax) to customers in the EU. This means that the item prices on our website will in general, appear cheaper than they did in 2020.
  • Our carriers take care of customs formalities so that you do not have to worry about import paperwork or procedures. A commercial invoice is included with your order.
  • You will be notified of any VAT and any Duty levied by the country of destination by the carrier. For convenience, these amounts can then be paid directly to the carrier prior to delivery, making the transaction simple and easy for you.
If you are an EU registered business, we will ask you to provide us with your EORI number at the time of ordering. This will streamline order processing and assist EU customs procedures upon entry.

Buying from Rimmer Bros will continue to be simple and we look forward to supporting all your parts requirements for years to come.

Covid-19

Following the announcement of National tier system in England, we wish to reassure all our customers that we remain open to support their vital parts needs during this time.

Sales

Our online services remain unchanged and our expert sales staff are available to take your calls, emails and chats as usual.

Our ‘Click & Collect’ service remains open, we will email you when your order is ready to collect, usually within 30 minutes, payment can be made upon collection via chip and pin. For Pre-Paid orders only, we need at least 2.5 hours’ notice prior to collection. This is to allow the order to be processed in our system, picked by our team and prepared for you. Please do not arrive early, respect the 2.5 hour policy as we need this time in order to protect our on site skeleton staff and to work within safety guidelines. Please call ahead (01522 568000) before setting out and for further details of how to collect.

We remain closed to walk-in customers who have not pre-ordered for the moment.

Despatch & Delivery

As the Covid-19 challenges continue (due to volumes experienced & the operational changes we have had to make to ensure we maintain the safety of our staff), we are currently despatching UK Standard orders within 2-3 days. Standard Export 5-7 days.
Due to carrier capacity issues, priority orders are not guaranteed.

Priority orders have about an 80% chance of arriving within the usual timescales.
Returns will take longer to process due to extended transit times and a delayed processing time for hygiene reasons. All returns must be pre-authorised with a returns authorisation (RA) number.

Carriers are experiencing a massive increase in volumes (some more than their capacity) and delays will be inevitable. All international Airmail has been affected by the lack of international flights. This has lead to increased surcharge costs and delays. A significant amount of the worlds Airmail (small packets) is currently travelling by sea container. For most countries outside the EU we have removed Airmail as a shipping option to avoid delays + disappointment.
There is currently a slight increase in flights, so mail is starting to move by plane, quicker, however in-country backlogs are causing long delivery delays.
i.e Mail to Australia is only being accepted via Sydney and Melbourne causing delays up to 7 weeks.
If we re-instate the Airmail option to these countries, we will have to add the hefty surcharges currently being made, this would then equate to the same cost as a carrier service. We will therefore continue to only offer a carrier service to these destinations for the short-term future.

We are doing everything within our power to ship goods as quickly as possible, thanks for your patience and support.
