Did this item work well with your project? What vehicle type are you using this for?
There are some reports of poorly hardened replacement layshafts, but this item appears to be nearly identical in hardness to several originals. A standard file skates off the surface, barely leaving a mark.
The oil groove is much better machined than the original, though I doubt that has any significant impact on performance.
