The MG ZR, produced from 2001 to 2005, was the first MG to be designed by a British car designer (Peter Stevens) in 20 years - returning MG to its British roots for design. MG used the ZR as the base for their successful entry in the British Touring Car Championship in 2001 and, in the same year, the MG ZR 160 became available. This performance-oriented variant was powered by a 1.8 litre Variable Valve Control (VVC) engine, delivering 160 bhp.
