The Discovery 4 underwent a significant facelift in 2014. The bonnet now showed ‘Discovery' rather than ‘Land Rover' and the ‘4' badge had disappeared from the tailgate. This set in motion the birth (a year or so later) of ‘Discovery' as a Land Rover family of cars (as well as being a model in the Land Rover line-up). ‘Discovery Sport' would go on to replace the Freelander 2 and slot neatly into the Discovery family.
